2008 Green Building workshops  

Energy Efficiency

Want to learn more about building or remodeling green? Take this opportunity to learn practical ideas on building green so you can save money, natural resources, and energy.

Your Touchstone Energy Cooperative is sponsoring these workshops in conjunction with other local electric cooperatives and the Iowa Central Community College Green Building Institute.

Choose one of these dates:

  • November 24 (Monday), 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • December 6 (Saturday), 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

For both sessions: Registration begins at 8:30; free refreshments will be offered. Lunch is also free. Classes will be held at the carpentry shop at Iowa Central Community College. Instructor is Bill McAnally, energy-efficient building expert and chair of ICCC’s Industrial Technology Department. Also helping will be area vendors and representatives from your Touchstone Energy Cooperative.

The workshops will focus on decisions you make when building or remodeling a home. Topics include:

  • Green construction methods
  • Technologies and building techniques
  • Energy efficiency and personal energy choices
  • Energy Star heating, cooling, lighting, appliances
  • Landscaping
  • Recycling
  • Touchstone Energy Home standards
  • The new ICCC Green Building Institute
